Hi,

I am running a coupled 3DVar case. Could someone, please, provide a description of the variables contained in the diag output files generated for each sensor assimilated?
I am specially interested in the differences between the the variables with suffix 0 and 1 (eg.: ‘EffectiveQC0’, ‘EffectiveQC1’).
It would be great if there is any documentation describing those (sorry, but I was unable to find).

Thank you

Joao

Hi Joao,
I found two short references to those quantities in the jedi-docs:

> **[Search — JEDI Documentation 8.0.0 documentation](https://jointcenterforsatellitedataassimilation-jedi-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/latest/search.html?q=effectiveQC)**

The second says:
**EffectiveQC** : This group name is UFO’s final QC value given by the QCflags.h enumeration of values associated with various QC rejection or other steps. Examples include Bounds Check, Domain Check, Background Check, etc.

Let us know whether you need more specific information about these quantities.

Hi Joao,
More specifically about the suffixes, the values refer to the iteration number: 0 refers to the background and the 1 refers to the analysis. If you had more outer loops, I think you would see more values in these groups.
