CRTM Compile error

I am trying to compile CRTM using the steps found in GitHub - JCSDA/crtm. I get the following message when I try to do the configure --prefix=$PW in build step 1.

configure: CRTM v2.4.0-alpha
checking whether the Fortran compiler works… no

This message often occurs if Configuration Step 1 wasn’t successfully executed:

. configuration/gfortran-debug.setup

Thank you. Benjamin determined that we didn’t have a new enough Fortran version. I am trying to get a newer version installed.
